Now mostly I am travelling with my two young teen children, getting a second chance to experience places with a whole new perspective. Rome and Naples 2024

In the late summer of 2024 Oda, Brage and I spent almost a week in Rome and Naples, exploring the rich history you sort of stumble across everywhere in Rome, and also spending a day in Pompeii, seeing just what life might have looked like in 79 AD.
Returning to South-East Asia
📍 Malaysia, South-East Asia
Sitting on a bench in a laundromat in Mersing, on the southeastern coast of Malaysia, I'm waiting for our wash to finish. It's a sweltering 33-34 degrees outside, but with some heavy duty fans going, the place is quite comfortable, even if the whole front of the place is missing and you are one with the street life going by outside. It's around twentyfive years since the last time I floated through this region, and while a whole lot has changed, a lot is very much the same. Instead of travelling solo, or with a girlfriend, now I have two early teen kids in tow. Experiencing all that is SE Asia, from the steaming hot jungles of Borneo to rooftop swimming pools among the skyscrapers of Kuala Lumpur through their eyes is adding a whole new dimension. Having spent about a week in Malaysia already, The trip has been great so far, and as we are looking forward to another week in just one place on an island in the South-China Sea, I feel fairly confident this coming week will be great as well. Our trip nearly met a devastating end even before it started, stuck out in the English country side, with an express train that was cancelled, and several Bolt taxi drivers ditching us last minute. I more and more frantiqually tried to get us to Heathrow, eventually getting us there a measly 37 minutes before our flight was leaving. The fact that I'm sitting here now is due to quite a bit of luck. Creating Journolog is in large part inspired by experiences I've had from all my own travels, which I have largely forgotten most of. The people I met, and sometimes travelled with for days, weeks or even months, are only distant memories, along with all the great locals I got to know along the way. Now, having been on several great trips with my kids during the last few years, I'm hoping to inspire them to write down some of their experiences. Hopefully helping them to create stronger memories in the now, and lasting mementos from their trips far into the future.
Morocco 2025/26
📍 Morocco, North Africa
Oda, Brage and I visited Morocco in August 2025 and then again in February 2026. The first trip saw us flying into Marrakesh, taking the bus down to Agadir on the Atlantic coast, then following the coast up to the surfing village of Taghazout and the old fortified town of Essaouira before the bus brought us back to Marrakesh. On our second trip, we flew directly to Agadir, then took the bus to Essaouira and later on to Marrakesh from which we flew home. I decided to write about both trips in this one Journey as they are so alike. I hope we go back there again, so it's safe to safe I'd recommend a trip to Morocco if you haven't yet had the pleasure!
